Karmo legal
Privacy policy
Effective and updated November 3, 2026
This policy explains how Karmo collects, uses, shares, and retains information when you use our website, video analysis and script services, free transcript tools, and connected assistant features. It also explains your choices. Our terms of service apply to your use of Karmo.
1. Information we collect
We receive information you provide, information from services you choose to connect, content from public video sources you submit, and information generated when you use Karmo.
- Account information: your name, email, account identifier, sign-in information, account settings, and permissions granted to connected assistants.
- Creator preferences: your niche, audience, content angle, tone, goals, preferred calls to action, and other creative direction you provide.
- Submitted content: video links, source video and audio, spoken words, visible text and images, prompts, rewrite instructions, and relevant revision messages. Source content can include personal information about you and other people.
- Generated content: transcripts and timing, hooks and scores, summaries, creative explanations, templates, structure, visual descriptions, scripts, shot lists, captions, calls to action, duration estimates, revision replies, and saved versions.
- Payment and service records: your plan, subscription status, credit balance and transactions, billing contact information, payment and subscription references, payment amounts, currency, and payment-method metadata. Payment details are entered through a payment provider; Karmo does not collect full card numbers or security codes through its tools.
- Usage and device information: IP address, browser and device information, page visits, feature use, request times, processing status, errors, operation references, and service usage records. Referral pages, campaign labels, and clicks help us understand how people find and use Karmo.
- Communications: your contact details, support messages, feedback, and any information you choose to include when contacting us.
2. How we use information
- Provide your account, process video requests, deliver transcripts and analyses, personalize scripts, and save or revise your work.
- Verify sign-in and assistant permissions, administer subscriptions and credits, reconcile payments, and answer support requests.
- Understand service usage and referrals, diagnose problems, manage processing costs, and improve reliability and the user experience.
- Detect misuse, enforce request limits and our terms, protect accounts, and meet legal, accounting, and security obligations.
- Enable the AI processing and potential model-training uses described in section 4.
Where a legal basis is required, we rely on performing our agreement with you, legitimate interests in operating and protecting the service, consent where required, and applicable legal obligations. We use information for the purposes described here and do not sell your personal information.
3. When we share information
- AI service providers: receive the source media, prompts, creative preferences, relevant saved content, and instructions needed to produce or revise results. Their processing can include the model-training uses described below.
- Service providers: hosting, data storage, authentication, security, analytics, email, and support providers process the information needed to operate their part of Karmo.
- Payment providers: receive account and billing contact information, your selected plan, payment references, and available referral information to process payments and manage subscriptions. They also collect payment information directly.
- Connected assistants and source platforms: assistants receive the results you request; video platforms and media hosts receive requests for the public sources you ask us to process. See section 5 for the information exchanged with assistants.
- Legal and business recipients: information may be disclosed to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, investigate abuse, protect rights and safety, or complete a merger, acquisition, or other business transfer with appropriate safeguards.
Some providers process information on our behalf; others, including payment services and assistants you choose to use, also handle information under their own terms and privacy policies. We may also share information when you direct or authorize us to do so.
Comparison pages may contain labeled affiliate links. Following a link takes you to another service, which handles your visit under its own policy.
4. AI processing and model training
Karmo uses third-party AI services to analyze source content and generate results. Video analysis involves processing the source video and audio. Script generation uses the analysis and your creator preferences. Revisions also use your current script, new instructions, and relevant saved revision messages. Free transcription sends extracted audio for speech recognition.
Content you submit and outputs generated through Karmo may be used by our AI service providers to train, develop, or improve AI models and related services, depending on their terms and the settings that apply to processing. This can include prompts, source media, transcripts, creative instructions, and generated results. Providers may also retain and review inputs and outputs to detect abuse, improve quality, or meet legal requirements. Review may be automated or performed by authorized personnel.
Do not submit sensitive personal information, health records, government identifiers, payment card details, passwords, other secrets, or confidential material. Only submit content you have permission to process, including information about identifiable people.
You can choose not to submit content to AI features and contact support about available processing or deletion choices before submitting it. Disabling website analytics does not disable AI processing or provider training uses. Deletion of saved Karmo content does not necessarily remove copies held by providers or reverse model training already completed.
5. Connected assistants and tool results
When you authorize an assistant, it can send the video link or saved analysis reference you select, together with task-specific instructions. Karmo uses those inputs and relevant saved account content to complete the request. We do not request your full assistant conversation, unrelated chats, private social messages, or access to private videos.
| Feature | Information processed and returned |
|---|---|
| Video analysis | Processes a public video link and its media, saves an analysis and initial personalized script, and returns the source platform, saved analysis reference, transcript, hook assessment, creative structure, visual observations, and script package. |
| Transcript retrieval | Uses a public video link or a reference to your own saved analysis. Returns the transcript and available segments with timing, spoken text, and visual descriptions, together with the source platform and analysis reference. A new link creates a saved analysis and initial script before returning the transcript. |
| Structure retrieval | Uses a public video link or a reference to your own saved analysis. Returns the hook, ordered structure, beats, visual notes, and available spoken/visual segments, together with the source platform and analysis reference. A new link creates a saved analysis and initial script. |
| Script writing and revision | Uses a public link or saved analysis, your creator preferences, and optional audience, target platform, and creative direction. Relevant saved script and revision messages may also be processed. Returns a title, hook, script, shot list, caption, call to action, duration estimate, source structure, platform, and analysis reference. Revisions replace the current saved script, while revision messages and versions are retained. |
Results can include completion status, an error explanation, suggested next step, credit/refund status, and a support reference. Paid operations and saved-result behavior are explained in our credit terms. Tools do not intentionally return your sign-in secrets, billing details, or unrelated account records.
Your assistant receives the requested results, including any personal information present in source speech or a personalized script. It may retain those results under its own policies and your account settings. Revoking a connection stops future authorized access; it does not delete existing assistant conversations or copies already returned.
7. How long we keep information
Retention depends on the information and its purpose. We consider service delivery, the sensitivity of the information, security needs, and applicable accounting, dispute, and legal requirements.
| Information | Retention |
|---|---|
| Account and saved work | Your account, creator profile, saved analyses, scripts, and revision history remain available while your account exists, until you request deletion. They do not automatically expire because you stop using Karmo, cancel a subscription, or disconnect an assistant. |
| Source media | Video and audio are processed temporarily rather than kept as a Karmo media library. We attempt to delete temporary provider uploads after analysis; uploaded files otherwise expire after 48 hours. This does not erase separate safety logs or content retained for provider model-development purposes. |
| Free transcript records | Cached results are reusable for 24 hours. After seven days, transcript text, identifying browser/network/source/audio hashes, and errors are cleared from request records. Cleanup runs on a subsequent service request, so physical removal may occur later. Remaining service-usage and cost records have no automatic expiry. |
| Browser information | Referral information is reused for up to 30 days, pending video links for up to 24 hours, and analytics/request-limit cookies for 30 days from renewal. Expired local entries can remain physically stored until a later visit replaces or clears them, or you clear site data. |
| Analytics and operational logs | Default retention for detailed analytics data is two months, with monthly deletion processing. User-identifier retention can restart on new activity. Aggregate reports are separate and have no automatic expiry under that setting. Routine service logs generally have retention windows of one to seven days, depending on the service. |
| AI provider records | Standard safety-monitoring records are retained for 55 days. Where provider request logging is enabled, the default maximum window is also 55 days before records are marked for deletion. Content retained for model development or training can follow separate provider terms and may not be subject to these log-deletion windows. |
| Billing and support records | These records have no automatic expiry in Karmo. We review removal on a verified deletion request and retain information still required for accounting, payment disputes, fraud prevention, or legal obligations for as long as that purpose requires. Some payment records require separate review after account deletion. |
| Recovery copies | Provider-managed recovery copies follow their own lifecycle. Deleting active content does not necessarily erase all recovery copies immediately. We have not configured a separate long-term backup archive. |
Information already held by an assistant, payment service, or source platform is also subject to that service’s retention practices. Contact support about the records involved in your request and any applicable deletion limits.
8. Your rights and choices
- Access, correction, and portability: view saved work and update your creator profile in your workspace. Contact support to request a copy, correction, or export of your information.
- Assistant permissions: revoke access in Connected assistants in your workspace, or disconnect Karmo in your assistant’s settings.
- Deletion: email support@trykarmo.com from your account email to request removal of specific content, attribution records, or your account. If your personal information appears in a public-video result, you can contact us without an account; provide the source link and enough detail to locate the information.
- Analytics choices: use the control above to disable future optional analytics and new browser attribution in this browser. We also honor Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track for optional analytics. Clearing site data removes local cookies and storage; previously saved server records require a separate request.
- Other privacy rights: depending on your location, you may be entitled to restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, receive portable data, or complain to a data protection authority. Contact support to exercise applicable rights without discrimination.
We may verify ownership before releasing or deleting information. Please do not send passwords or identity documents in your initial request. We will explain applicable exceptions and respond within the time required by law. Withdrawing consent does not invalidate earlier lawful processing.
Blocking essential storage may affect sign-in or free-transcript features. Privacy requests, assistant disconnection, and subscription cancellation are separate actions; use Manage plan for billing changes.
9. Security and international processing
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted connections, access controls, and verification of account and payment requests. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Contact support promptly about suspected unauthorized access.
Karmo and its providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States. These countries may have different privacy laws. Where required, we rely on applicable legal and contractual safeguards for international processing. Contact us for information relevant to your request.
10. Age limits and updates
Karmo is intended for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. Contact support if you believe a child has provided information so we can investigate and remove it as appropriate.
We update this policy when our practices change and show the effective date above. Material changes will be communicated through the service or account email where required. For questions or privacy requests, contact support@trykarmo.com.
